Mother Nature – How we look after the environment

  • 1. Sustainable products – fashion that goes skin-deep

In the quest for pollutant free, skin-friendly fabrics we are stricter than even the law requires us to be and have been for years now. Our list of prohibited substances not only includes carcinogenic and teratogenic pollutants but also substances proven to cause allergies. We want you to look great and feel great in your bonprix garments. We are proud to say that all our products adhere to strict international standards. Not because they have to. Because we want them to.

Systemic spot checks are carried out in independent certified laboratories to ensure the highest standard of quality. If an item fails to make the grade it is immediately removed from our product range. Only the best is good enough for our customers.

We take every customer complaint we receive seriously. If someone tells us that a garment has an unpleasant odour, then we investigate. Checks are carried out and if needs be, the item is removed from our product range.

  • 2. Organic cotton – a natural alternative

Garments made using organic cotton are new to bonprix and are clearly marked with a special logo. We are delighted to say that the number of items available is growing steadily. Organic cotton is farmed under strict regulations. Only natural pesticides and biological fertilisers are used. The whole production process is monitored to ensure the cotton is as clean and organic as possible. Even the dyes used are skin-friendly. Feel the difference for yourself!
  • 3. Climate protection – reducing our carbon footprint

We aim to half our site, mobility and transport-related CO² emissions by 2020. It’s an ambitious goal but we have already taken a huge step in the right direction through a shift from air transport to shipping freight.

  • 4. Environmental protection begins at home – every little helps

bonprix takes an earnest approach to environmental protection. We choose not to use air conditioning in our offices or use aggressive cleaning detergents. Our employees help us by using the recycling bins provided. And in 2006, 84% of all paper used within the company was recycled paper.

  • 5. Over to you – how you can do your bit

Want to do your bit too? We’ve put together some ideas on how you can live a greener life every single day.
    • Choose washing cycles with lower temperatures. Opt for 30°C instead of 40°C for colours and 60°C instead of 95°C for linen and towels. It doesn’t just save energy but is kinder to your clothes too!
    • Use the correct amount of detergent and softener. You can find out how hard the water in your area is and adjust the amount accordingly. Using less detergent not only saves you money but also helps keep the planet clean.
